Over the holidays, our friend Lynne Barnes directed a church choir, bell choir and additional musicians in a cantata that combined the favorite songs of all their cantatas of previous years. It was a stunning performance and marked the end of Lynne's career as a choir director.
A friend in Berkeley Springs served a Moroccan stew that my husband, John, and I really loved. The flavors were incredible. When I made it before the holidays, I revised several items.
John continues last week's exercise column with a few more tidbits that you might consider for 2008. Thanks again!
A few months ago, I had a physical for driving the Arts Bus as part of the children's after school art program.
My husband, John, has been interested in strengthening core muscles for some time. I asked him to work on a column to share this very valuable information with faithful readers. Please enjoy his words and incorporate ideas that fit into your fitness routine. Thanks, John!
I made this apple cake a few weeks ago and it is so very creamy, so very like cheesecake, that I thought some faithful readers might take the time to share it this holiday season.
Several people have recently requested Edna's Fruitcake Recipe. Faithful readers may remember that, in 2001, Edna Earls, from Kenova, W.Va., decided to share, for the first time, her very tasty and revered fruitcake recipe. I was guided to print the recipe here April 25, 2001, even though it would have seemed much more "fitting" to wait until a December holiday column later that year. Edna died on June 24, just 2 months after the column.
I found a recipe that I had featured in 1999 and, since I seem to be on a cranberry promoting mission (they are very nutritious!) this year, I wanted to share the idea plus a few more mouth-watering tips today. If you're looking for a new cranberry sauce, this might be "it." If you're searching for just the right light ending to a holiday meal or party, please clip this column!
