Batchelors celebrate anniversary
Frank R. and Elva J. (Gallaher) Batchelor celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, June 20, 2009. Frank and Elva (known to all as Ellie) were married at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Gaithersburg. Frank is the son of the late Howard F. and Mabel (Aro) Batchelor of Hyattsville, N.J. He worked for the National Security Agency (NSA) at Fort Meade as a cryptanalyst for 35 years, retiring in 1988. Ellie is the daughter of the late Alvin Harlan and Annie Mary (McCullough) Gallaher of Childs. Ellie taught high school English in Montgomery County, retiring in 1989. They currently reside in Cumberland.

Fay, Midge Troutman mark 50th anniversary
On May 2, 1959, Fay Troutman and Midge Michaels were united in marriage at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mount Savage. Father Smith performed the ceremony. The maid of honor was Sandy (Clark) Lavin and the best man was George Carter.

David and Janet (Plunkert) were married in 1957 at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene in their hometown of Hanover, Pa. After honeymooning in New York City, they settled into married life, while David pursued his studies toward ministry at Messiah College in Pennsylvania. They relocated to Cumberland in 1962 to fill the pastorate at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Valley Road, and have made this area their home for the past 45 years.
