Fay, Midge Troutman mark 50th anniversary

Cumberland Times-News

MOUNT SAVAGE — On May 2, 1959, Fay Troutman and Midge Michaels were united in marriage at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mount Savage. Father Smith performed the ceremony. The maid of honor was Sandy (Clark) Lavin and the best man was George Carter.

Fay is the son of the late Sidna (Kennell) and Claude Troutman of Kennells Mill, Pa. Midge is the daughter of the late Edna (Kellar) and Wilbert Michaels of Mount Savage. They are the proud parents of four children, son Bob Troutman and wife Joyce, of Eckhart; son Mike Troutman and special friend Lucinda Witt, of Hyndman, Pa; son Mark Troutman and wife Cindy of Mount Savage; and daughter Connie Wilson and husband John of LaVale.

Their children hosted a 50th anniversary party at the Barrelville Outdoor Club on May 2009. One hundred and fifty relatives and friends attended from California, Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The couple was accompanied at the head table by their maid of honor, Sandy Lavin, and husband, Irv. Music was provided by DJ Jack Daniel, Dan Fisher. Food was prepared by Annie Neubiser, Viola Michaels, Sandy Lavin, Ella Morgan, Cindy Troutman, Terri Brown, Patty Troutman and Midge. The cake was made by Cheri Henkle. It was decorated with red roses and gold bows and the cake top was previously used by Midge’s parents on the occasion of their 50th anniversary. Midge plans to pass it on to her sister, Bertie Cooney, and husband, Roger, for their 50th anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Cooney, of Santa Rosa, Calif., were surprise guests at the party. The cake was cut by Cindy Troutman and Janet Thompson. It was served by granddaughters Desirae Upole, Dekota Wilson and Tahmya and Shaleena ‘Troutman.

The color scheme for the party was red, gold and cream. Decorations were made by Connie Wilson and family and Cindy Troutman and family. The couple’s children and spouses did a beautiful job decorating the hall, with help from grandchildren Derek McGee, Cole Troutman, Dekota Wilson and Desirae Upole and friend Derek Twigg. The lovely centerpiece, a gift to the couple, was made by Hattie McGowan, Big Poole. A corsage and boutonniere were given to the couple by friend Janet Thompson.

Mr. Troutman is a retired truck driver. Mrs. ‘Troutman is a care provider for the elderly. They have 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The couple would like to thank their children and grandchildren and everybody who helped to make the party such a great success. We would like to extend a special “thank you” to our family and friends who celebrated this wonderful day with us. It was great! We had an amazing day and we couldn’t have done it without you! To our children and their families: We love you all. You are our reason for living. Thank you!
