Clarks celebrate anniversary

BARTON — Mr. and Mrs. Victor Clark Sr., Barton, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, with relatives and friends at the Family Life Center, Lonaconing. The event was hosted by their children and grandchildren.

Victor Earl Clark Sr. and Donna Lee Jones were married in Midland on Nov. 10, 1962. They have lived in Barton for the past 48 years. Victor is retired from Buffalo Coal Company, Lonaconing, after being employed with them for 24 years. He continues to work at Cobra Mining, Inc., Barton, which is owned by Vic  Jr. and Alan. Victor and Donna are members of Harmony Baptist Church, Westernport.

They are the parents of four children: Victor Earl Clark Jr., and wife Deanna Clark, Barton; Alan Douglas Clark, Barton, and Tabby Walker; Kevin Michael Clark, Barton, and Cindy Shank; and Michele Lee Leatherman, Lonaconing, and Jeremiah Fairgrieve. They have five grandchildren: Christina Marie (Clark) Ujcic and husband, David Brian Ujcic, Short Gap, W.Va.; Brian Lewis Clark, Barton, and Jennifer Hardman; Tasha Lynn Clark, Barton, and Jeb Bennett; Charity Noel Clark, Spring Grove, Pa.; and Preston Thomas Leatherman, Keyser, W.Va. Their sixth grandchild is expected to arrive in March 2013. They have two great-grandchildren: Cambrya Madelyn Clark and Cash Weston Clark, Barton.

There were 70 family and friends that attended the celebration. The wood and rustic-theme was carried out with gold accents; burlap and lace table runners; canning jars, tall vases, and votive candles atop wood slabs; a homemade picture backdrop with straw bales donated by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Beachy, Barton; and various other willow branches, pumpkins and a large wooden wagon filled with mums. The dinner was catered and served by owner, Mr. George Pappas Jr., and two helpers from the Princess Restaurant, Frostburg. Mrs. Gail Platter, Mount Savage, prepared a three-tiered cake trimmed with wood branches. The cake topper had two white resin birds that were sitting in a chocolate and Rice Krispies nest, which was designed and made by McFarland’s Candies, Frostburg.

Victor was presented with a white rose and gold boutonniere and Donna was presented with a matching corsage by her children, which was handcrafted from Harvey’s Florist and Greenhouse, Frostburg. They also supplied the mums, bows, leaf garlands and assorted birds. Hook Photography, Cumberland, was there to capture this special occasion and was a gift from Brian, Jenn, Chrissy and Dave. Charity played various piano solos while desserts were being served.

Victor and Donna would like to thank everyone who shared in the celebration of their special day.
