Morgans celebrate anniversary

FROSTBURG — Fifty-five years ago,   on March 15, 1958,  Rose Ellen Unseld and Gomer Morgan were united in marriage.

Rose is the daughter of the late Laura Unseld and Gomer is the son of the late James and Margaret Morgan.

The wedding was held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, with  Pastor Heinz officiating. Helen Unseld, aunt of the bride, served as the organist for the ceremony. Shirley Keller, friend of the bride, was maid of honor and Edward Morgan, brother of the groom, was best man. Rose and Gomer honeymooned at Niagara Falls, returning to set up residence in Frostburg, where they have lived ever since.

Rose is a retired registered nurse, having worked at Memorial Hospital, Miners Hospital and, most recently, Sacred Heart Hospital. She spends most of her time shopping, playing cards and taking care of others, but her true passion is spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gomer and his son Harry opened the Auto Clinic in 1981.  Gomer continues to work at the garage.  He enjoys golfing and playing games on the computer and also is an active member of the Ali Ghan Shrine Club Motor Corps.

Both Rose and Gomer like to travel and spend time with their friends.

Rose and Gomer have four children, Harry Morgan and wife, Sharon; Joni Ogden and husband, Jamie; Cheryl McCormick and husband, Morgan; and Kimberly Shumaker and husband, Jim.  They also have 12 grandchildren, Matthew and Adam Morgan; Danyele Shaffer and husband, Mark; Nathan Ogden and wife, Kasey; Maggie, Brendan and Tyler Ogden; Abby Twigg and husband, Cory; Chris McCormick and wife, Serena;  and Ryan, Emily and Kevin Shumaker; and nine great-grandchildren, Landen, Briley, Liam and Kensley Shaffer; Tanner and Austin Ogden; Wyatt and Weston Twigg; and Jaxon McCormick; and hope to have more.

God has truly blessed Rose and Gomer with a wonderful family and great friends.  They have had many fond memories and look forward to many more.
