Carolyn, Donald Bulger mark golden anniversary

CUMBERLAND — Mr. and Mrs. Donald and Carolyn (Isner) Bulger celebrated their golden wedding anniversary  Saturday, May 11, at the Holiday Inn in Cumberland, Maryland. The couple married on May 15, 1963, at the Grace Baptist Church Parsonage, Cumberland. Pastor Keefer officiated the ceremony.
An anniversary dinner and reception to celebrate the couple’s 50 years was hosted by their four children: Michael (Tern) Bulger, Kimberly (Ken) McDonald, Brenda (Dan) Northcraft and Trisha (Cesar) Gonzales.
Michael Bulger led the event by thanking family, friends and guests for the support they have given over the years and for being a blessing and influence in the Bulger family. He spoke about the Biblical passage, Proverbs 22:6, “Train-up a child in the way he should go...” and how the couple, as parents and individuals, have been examples of this passage and other passages of Scripture. He led the evening with a prayer of gratitude, giving thanks to God for providing parents who have been strong in their faith and spiritual leadership.
Guests were served a buffet-style dinner catered by the Holiday Inn. Carol Merrill provided an elaborate chocolate and caramel fountain station adorned with a variety of fruits, cookies and goodies. She was assisted by Bob Merrill and Debbie Broham.
M&M Bakery baked the four-tier white icing anniversary cake accented in black and gold and topped with a golden 50. Friends of the couple, Pam Taylor and Judy Helmick, cut the anniversary cake which offered flavorful options of carrot, red velvet and yellow. The couple’s granddaughters served the cake to their guests. Roger and Brenda Gough photographed the event.
Tables were decorated with white linens and black overlays with candle-lit hurricane lamps sitting on mirrored accents as centerpieces. Floral arrangements consisted of yellow rosebuds, white daisies, greenery and baby’s breath.
Two memory tables featured past photos of the couple and posters marking how they had met and their most memorable moments. Each of their 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild documented their “Grand Memories of the Grandparents” which were on display.
