Joan and Kenny Wilson mark golden anniversary

— CUMBERLAND — Kenny and Joan (Lowery) Wilson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 16, 2013. The couple was married at Park Place United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ramon Reno.

A surprise 50th anniversary party was held for the couple at the Cumberland Outdoor Club on Nov. 17, 2013. The party was given for the couple by their three sons and their daughters-in-law and was attended by friends and family members.

A buffet-style meal was served and the cake was provided by Martin’s Bakery. Table decorations and a memory table showcasing the couple through the years were displayed. Guests of the party honored the two with a variety of gifts.

Kenny is retired from the Westvaco (Newpage) after 34 years of service. His hobbies in his early years included: working on cars, working on crossword puzzles and gardening. His favorite sports teams are the Pirates and the Steelers.

Joan retired from the Learning Tree at the Presbyterian Church after 30 years of service. Her hobbies include: gardening, decorating her home, crafts and family get-togethers.

The two also enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.

Joan and Kenny love to travel. They have been to Las Vegas, Branson, Nashville, Busch Gardens, Ocean City, Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, Colorado and on a Caribbean cruise.

They are the parents of three sons, Kenny Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Scott and wife, Lisa, and Steve and wife, Missy. They also have six grandchildren, Kenny III, Rachel, Brittany, Dylan, Cheyene, and Johnathan.

Kenny and Joan reside in Cumberland.

The family would like to thank everyone for attending the party and celebrating with the couple.
