Prestons celebrate anniversary

BARTON — Dale Sr. and MaryLou Preston, Barton, will celebrate their 60th anniversary Aug. 5.

The couple was married Aug. 5, 1953 at First Baptist Church, Westernport. The Rev. William B. Orndorff was the officiating clergyman and their attendants were Helen (Broadwater) Amann and Ervin Preston.

MaryLou is the daughter of the late Alburtus and Ethel (Jones) Llewellyn of Barton.  She is retired from the Barton Post Office.  

Dale is the son of the late Alfred and Eva (Miller) Preston, Barton. He was employed with Failinger’s Contracting for a number of years prior to opening his own contracting business, D.A. Preston Contracting, which he and MaryLou operated until their retirement.

The couple are the parents of four children, Lou Ann McGuinness and husband Allen, Martinsburg, W.Va.; Dale Preston Jr. and wife Terry, Rawlings; Gary Preston and wife Susan, Delma; and Tonya Martin and husband Stacy, Oakland.  They are the grandparents of 13 grandchildren, Nikki Shelton, Martinsburg; Gina McGuinness, Fairway, Tenn.; Mandy Preston, Westernport; Kelly Kaylor and husband Stephen II, Rawlings; Aaron Preston, Keyser, W.Va.; Amy Rash and husband Eric, Rawlings; Gary Joel Preston, deceased; Melissa Preston and fiance Derrick Leatherbury, Fruitland; Corey Preston, Salisbury; Meghan Pfaller and husband Russell, Pittsville; John Basch, Salisbury; and Thomas Martin and Mark Martin, Oakland; and two step-grandchildren, Erica Harrison and Jordan Groff, Delmar.  They also have eight great-grandchildren, Janna House and Hailey Shelton, Martinsburg; Matthew McGuinness, Fairway; Stephen Kaylor II, Alivea Kaylor and Kierra Kaylor, Rawlings; and Caitlyn Leatherbury and Riley Leatherbury, Fruitland.

A celebration will be hosted by their children on Aug. 3 at the Barton Fire Hall. Invitations have been sent.
