Camerons celebrate anniversary

WESTERNPORT— Mr. and Mrs. David Cameron, Westernport, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary recently with a family dinner at the Flying W Restaurant in Burlington, W.Va.

Also, the couple’s granddaughter and son-in-law sang a duet dedicated to the couple at the Cameron’s church, Christ Memorial Baptist in Westernport, on Mother's Day.

Joan and David were married May 12, 1958, at First United Methodist Church in Lonaconing. They are the parents of three children, David R. Cameron, Westernport, and Tami Schramm  and husband, Kenny, and Joy Michael and husband, Rex, all of Winchester, Va. They also have seven grandchildren and in September they will have a total of eight great-grandchildren. The Camerons love spending time with their family.

Mr. Cameron retired from Westvaco on the couple’s 25th anniversary. Their children held a party for them.

The Camerons love to travel. On their 36th anniversary they went to Mexico with the Norwegian Cruise Line, boarding the Sea Ward in Miami, Fla. Port calls were made in Key West, Florida and Mexico's two Caribbean island resorts, Cancun and Cozumel.

On their 50th anniversary, the couple’s children had a dinner party in Winchester. Va. Music was provided for the occasion.

The couple spent two weeks at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina and visited the Biltmore House in North Carolina. They also visited the Canadian side of Niagara Falls two times. They traveled to Tennessee together to experience a variety of things, including: the Grand Ole Opry, the Elvis Presley Museum, Elvis’ Graceland Mansion in Memphis and Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. They also visited Charlevoix, Mich., and Baltimore. They have also traveled to a variety of beaches, including Ocean City, and spent two weeks in Florida.

The couple really enjoyed their trips and the time they spent together.
