CUMBERLAND - Cycling and hiking enthusiasts or anyone who is interested in regional history can learn more about the renovation of the Big Savage Tunnel by watching a feature report on WQED 13, Pittsburgh's TV news magazine program.
The segment will air as part of the "OnQ" program June 13 at 7:30 and 11:30 p.m. and June 14 at 12:30 p.m.
The tunnel, which is situated in Somerset County, Pa., near the Maryland state line, reopened in 2003 as part of the Great Allegheny Passage, a 400-mile hiking and biking trail that will connect Washington, D.C. via the C&O Canal towpath to Pittsburgh.
The Allegheny Highlands Trail, which will span 30 miles from Cumberland to the Pennsylvania state line, is still under construction.
