Reds, a new Cumberland bar, features cigar room, billiards

CUMBERLAND — Downtown Cumberland recently received a new addition to its restaurant and entertainment district.

Reds Billiards and Cigar Room, located at 114 S. Centre St., adds to the diverse choices now offered as gathering places. The establishment is owned by Bill ‘Red’ Rice.

The establishment gives the customer an option for their choosing. The spacious hall is separated into two sections. The cigar parlor, the smaller section, is divided by glass walls. The larger section is non-smoking. It contains four leather drop pocket billiard tables and a lengthy bar. Reds receives music by way of a Peavey sound system.

Reds is the only cigar parlor in Western Maryland. Rice, an avid cigar fan, said, “My enjoyment of cigars, and my desire to one day be self employed, came together to create the idea for the place. I saw an opportunity that no one else had done.” Rice added in his love of billiards to the mix, and the business was complete.

Drew Estates of Miami supplies Reds’ cigars. Reds offers mild-, medium- and full-bodied brands and receives a variety of new selections regularly. In addition to purchasing cigars, patrons can bring their own, as well as pipes. Also, Reds plans to have the capacity soon for customers to store their own cigars in on-site rented humidors.

While not the typical restaurant, Reds does offer a limited menu, which includes crab cakes, buffalo chicken dip and pizza. The menu will likely expand in the future.

Reds is also available for organization events. For more information, call (301) 724-0555.
