FROSTBURG — Student choreography and a performance by a Broadway artist will highlight the Spring Dance Concert at Frostburg State University on April 3-4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center’s Drama Theatre, presented by the FSU Department of Theatre and Dance.
Performed by the FSU Dance Company, the concert will feature original choreography and dances highlighting a variety of styles by company members and director Jamie McGreevy. The concert will also present a new piece by guest artist Jeff Shade.
Shade is a dancer, choreographer, teacher and dance therapist. He has performed on Broadway in plays such as “Sweet Charity,” served as dance captain for “Chicago” and has toured with “Crazy For You.” Shade has also taught at Harvard University, the Boston Conservatory, Point Park University and STEPS on Broadway. Some of Shade’s most important work has come from his volunteer organization, House of Roses, which helps to build self esteem and self confidence through dance.
Seniors Jessica Seminerio and Daniel Durr will choreograph and dance in their final concert at FSU. Seminerio created a contemporary piece that explores the taboo love between two young adults from different worlds, while Durr’s piece investigates the complex concepts of life and death through contemporary movement.
