Ratcliff Market

The fire-damaged former Ratcliff Market building at along state Route 28 in Fort Ashby, W.Va., is pictured here being razed Tuesday. A fire inside the structure on July 13, 2012, claimed three lives and left up to 20 people homeless. The property loss in the building owned by John Daskal and Denver DeHaven was estimated at up to $1 million. The building also formerly housed the Sav-A-Lot Pharmacy and Cindi’s Restaurant on the first floor. The West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire originated in a second-floor hallway. The pharmacy now operates at a location on Route 28.
