Steve Raschella of Keyser, W.Va., is pictured here with a hammered dulcimer in his recording studio on Saturday morning. Raschella, a retired Mineral County school music teacher, started building hammered dulcimers in 1980, and the instrument pictured here is his 157th. The reason this particular instrument was built, Raschella said, was because he is to play it at Potomac State College’s production of “McNeill’s Rangers.” Constructed out of zebrawood with an ebony bridge, the price tag for a hammered dulcimer like this one ranges from $1,800 to $2,500, Raschella said. The college’s production of “McNeill’s Rangers” is set to run March 14 to March 24. For ticket information, call 304-788-6855.
