The Pawshank Redemption

John E. Barba, an inmate at the Western Correctional Institution in Cumberland, holds a yellow Labrador Retriever puppy in his cell on Monday. WCI is the first maximum-security prison in the country to implement a program that partners with America’s VetDogs in which incarcerated veterans and other inmates train puppies to serve as service dogs for disabled veterans. Similar programs will be launched at Maryland Correctional Institution in Hagerstown and the Eastern Correctional Institution in Westover.
