G&S/NewPage cruises; Fort Ashby holds on, 7-6

KEYSER, W.Va. — Four G&S Coal/ NewPage pitchers combined to one-hit Keyser VFW in a 15-0, five-inning Hot Stove League win Wednesday at Clark Field.

Starting pitcher Jaccob Miller led the team at the plate with two triples, a single and three runs scored. Caleb Donnellan added a triple, single and three RBIs, and Mitchell Morris had a single and two RBIs.

Anthony Sarafino and Morgan Green singled twice, with Green driving in a run. Cody Malone contributed an RBI single.

NewPage (7-4-1) will host Fort Ashby VFW on Friday.



Fort Ashby Lions 7

Madigan’s Auto 6

OAKLAND — Ryan Bobo struck out seven and J.P. Twigg hit a big home run as the Fort Ashby Lions held on for a 7-6 win over Madigan’s Auto at Broadford Park.

Bobo threw the first five innings, was relieved briefly in the sixth and returned to finish the contest. He stranded the tying and go-ahead runners on base in the bottom of the seventh.

Twigg delivered a three-run home run that helped the Lions take a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning. Bobo and Ryan Chase both doubled.

Shane Peck hit a double and a single for Madigan’s which trailed 7-0 before scoring five times in the sixth and once in the seventh. Cody Sliger added a double, and Scott Bittinger and Josh Wotring had two singles.

The Lions (10-4) play G&S Coal/NewPage Friday at Westernport.



Hobo’s 13, KMK Insurance 1

LAVALE — Corey Shroyer slugged a two-run home run in the first inning and had six RBIs as Hobo’s remained undefeated with a win over KMK on Tuesday.

Shroyer would added a triple to his first-inning homer. Brad Torbet had four singles and two RBIs, Jordan Bingman doubled and singled twice, Danielle Wisnewski had a double, single and two RBIs and Micah Stair added two singles.

Chad Deneen held KMK to five singles. Austin Hensel drove in the KMK’s only run.

Hobo’s (8-0) hosts Culver Design tonight at Hyndman.



The Wisp 9, Team One 4

ACCIDENT — Cody Rodeheaver struck out 10 batters while allowing just five singles to lead The Wisp over Team One Auto Mall Monday at Northern.

Humberson and Josh Mason doubled and Jeremy Bender had two singles for the Wisp, which had seven hits.

Bubba Scheffel and Derek Noble combined for six strikeouts in the loss.

The Wisp (11-4) will play Tuesday, 7 p.m., at Barton Meadows Field.
