Bible, Robinette lift VFW to victory

CUMBERLAND — POTOMAC PARK — Noah Bible homered and tripled and Kirk Robinette hit two singles and stole three bases and Ridgeley VFW edged the Kiwanis 3-2 Saturday at Hamilton Field.

Ridgeley (7-2) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Bible tripled and scored on a single by Robinette, who then stole second, third and home.

Bible hit a solo homer in the third. Winning pitcher Nate Strietbeck added a double for Ridgeley VFW, which had five hits.

Jason Copman singled twice and Tristan Gibbs doubled for Kiwanis (2-7), which had three hits.

The Kiwanis play Riverside Sports on Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Memorial Field. Ridgeley VFW faces the Rotary on Tuesday at Holler Field.

POTOMAC PARK — Evan Shockey and Christian Wildeson teamed for a three-hit shutout in leading Taylor Mines over Rotary at Hamilton Field.

The game was ended after five innings. Taylor Mines scored nine of its 10 runs in the first two innings. Andrew Brantner singled three times and Devin Smith singled twice for the winners.

Austin Farrell doubled and singled for Rotary.

Taylor Mines (1-6) plays Madigan’s Auto Sales Wednesday at Holler Field at 6 p.m.
