WEPCO sweeps twinbill for perfect regular season

— WESTERNPORT  — Pitching dominated from the beginning to the end of WEPCO’s doubleheader with the Moose on Friday with the two teams combining for nine hits in a total of 10 innings as WEPCO picked up two more wins to finish the regular season undefeated.

Adam Stowell pitched a two-hit shutout and WEPCO took the opener 2-0, and Jacob Miller tossed a two-hitter in a 3-2 win in the second game. WEPCO managed four hits in the opener, and was held to only one hit in the second.

Josh Mills hit a two-run double and Miller also had a double to do most of the damage in the first game. Nate Souders had a double in the loss.

The second time around, WEPCO used a combination of walks and errors to score three runs in the third inning, despite being limited to a Jordan Montgomery single.

Souders and Zac Steckman singled for the Moose, with Steckman getting an RBI.

WEPCO finished the regular season 16-0 and will open the playoffs on Monday in Westernport as the top seed.

ACCIDENT — Cody Rodeheaver finished 4-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and two singles to lead the North End Diamond Dogs over Casselman Valley in the regular-season finale at Northern High School.

Pat Sines finished with two singles and three RBIs to augment Rodeheaver’s three-RBI night. Jerad Fike drove in a run with a double and a single and Kyle Rosenberger had two singles and an RBI.

For Casselman, Vogt hit a solo home run and two singles, and Leydig slammed a home run.

The Diamond Dogs (12-5-1) will be the No. 3 seed in the playoffs, while Casselman Valley will be the No. 2 seed. The teams will meet again on Monday, at Salisbury, in the first round of the playoffs.

WEPCO 5, Chessie 3

FROSTBURG — Cody Malone hit a two-run double to lift unbeaten WEPCO over Chessie Thursday at Mountain Ridge High School.

WEPCO (14-0) scored four of its runs in the third inning. Along with Malone, they were led by Adam Stowell with two doubles and Josh Mills with two singles.

Dan Strietbeck hit an RBI double for Chessie.
