ACM rally tops Hawks

CUMBERLAND — Drew O’Neal had three hits including a key one in the eighth inning that allowed Allegany College of Maryland to rally for a 12-9 victory over Hagerstown Community College Tuesday afternoon at The Rock.

Hagerstown had built a 8-5 lead through five innings before the Trojans battled back.

Allegany closed to within two with a two-run sixth inning.

In the eighth, the Trojans scored five runs with O’Neal driving in two of his four RBIs. Eli Souders and Cody Doran both also had two RBIs, including one in the eighth for both. Jeff Morgan also had two hits with a double and an RBI. Allegany finished with 13 hits overall.

In the fifth inning, Joe Glass relieved Tyler Sunday who replaced starting pitcher Adam Frye in the fourth inning. Glass proceeded to strike out five, gave up only two hits and one run — unearned — to get the win.

Hagerstown’s C.J. Owings had two hits and Drew Deshong also had two hits with a double and an RBI. Eric Schanzenbacher and Dylan Dunn both had two hits and an RBI.

The Hawks drop to 18-14 overall and 2-3 in the Maryland JUCO.

Allegany (9-11, 4-5 Maryland JUCO) visits Rappahannock Community College on Saturday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
