MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Luis Rios drove in two runs to help Garrett hold off Monroe, 5-4, in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Saturday evening.
Bryor Weiss got the start for the Lakers. He didn’t allow a run until Guillaume Gingras launched a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Monroe added another in the half inning to tie it at four before Corey Podvasnick got the third out.
The Lakers re-gained the lead in the sixth and Podvasnick pitched the rest of the way to get the win.
Garrett (4-8) plays today at noon against Camden (N.J.) and at 3 p.m. versus Bunker Hill (Mass.) in Myrtle Beach.

DOVER, Del. — Jordan Lozzi allowed only three hits over seven innings in cooling off the conference’s top hitting team and leading Wesley to a 6-0 win over Frostburg State in college baseball on Friday.
Lozzi struck out three to improve his early-season record to 3-0. Cory Smith and Conner Gobright had three hits for the Wolverines (9-2).
J.K. Filauro doubled and Kevin Kean had two singles for the Bobcats (9-5), who entered the game leading the Capital Athletic Conference in nearly every offensive category.
Cody Ellsworth allowed six runs in 5 1-3 innings and absorbed the loss for Frostburg, which completes the weekend series with a doubleheader at Wesley today at noon.
