OAKLAND — The Oakland Oaks combined for 24 hits in just 10 innings in sweeping their Pen-Mar Baseball League doubleheader over West Virginia Powerhouse, 11-1 and 15-1, Saturday at Southern Garrett High School.
Brian Lenhart hit a grand slam in the first inning and also had an RBI single to lead the Oaks in the opener. Tommie Reams had three singles and knocked in three runs, Cody Toothman had two singles, Norm Minnick had a two-run double and Cam King had an RBI single.
Derek Taylor started and worked four innings, giving up a run in the first and a leadoff single in the second, striking out eight and walking three. Jashano Sweeting came in to relieve in the fifth and struck out the side.
In the second game, Oakland batted around twice, scoring eight runs in the fourth inning. Willie Poteag hit a grand slam home run in the fourth. Toothman doubled and singled, King had two singles and stole a base, Reams doubled, singled and scored three runs and Billy Reams had three singles and two RBIs. Cory Helbig singled twice, doubled and knocked in one, while Lenhart doubled. Nathan King had a double and a single to knock in two.
For West Virginia Powerhouse, Ryan Crabtree doubled in the second and scored on a single by Sammy Frantz.
Oakland will play Cumberland today, 1 p.m., at Southern. Powerhouse will play Tri-State at the Hot Stove Complex.
