— LAVALE — Eli Souders got nine strikeouts and drove in two runs on two hits to lead the Cumberland Moose to a 6-3 win over the Northside Diamond Dogs in the opener of the best-of-three first-round Rec League playoff series.

Souders tossed a complete game, but didn’t get any support early and he fell behind 2-0 going into the bottom of the fourth. Moose tied the score in that half of the inning before Northside retook the lead with a run in the sixth.

Souders then helped his team to score four runs in the last of the sixth to take the lead for good. He finished with a triple and a single at the plate, and allowed four hits on the mound.

Brandon Reed added a double, while Zach Steckman singled and scored twice for Moose.

Northside got a triple from Rosenberger and another from Lapp.

Moose (13-3) goes for the sweep on Wednesday at Northern.
