Wright delivers for Moose in ninth

CRESAPTOWN — Michael Wright’s walk-off single in the ninth inning lifted the Cumberland Moose past Northside, 6-5, and into the Rec Baseball League championship series Friday at Hamilton Field.

Colton Matthews singled with one out in the ninth and stole second and third to set the stage for Wright’s single.

Wright finished with two singles and three RBIs, Nate Souders had a double and single and Matthews two singles.

Moose squandered a chance to win it in the seventh with the bases loaded and no outs. Northside brought in its left fielder to make a five-man infield and kept Moose from scoring.

Kyle Rosenberger tripled and singled twice with two RBIs in the loss. Cody Rodeheaver doubled and singled and Mason Dick added two singles.

The Moose plays Casselman Valley in the opening game of teh championship series on Monday, at 5:30, at the Hammersmith Hot Stove Complex.

MOUNT SAVAGE — Alex Beiler took a no-hitter into the sixth inning to lead Casselman Valley over Barrelville Outdoor Club at Dickel Field for a spot in the league’s championship series.

Beiler permitted three runs, all unearned, on one hit in the sixth inning. He finished with eight strikeouts and four walks.

Micah Stair doubled for Barrelville’s lone hit.

Beiler doubled and singled, scoring two runs at the plate. Brandon Miller doubled, singled and drove in two runs while Justin Donaldson had two singles and two RBIs.

Casselman Valley (14-3-1) play the Cumberland Moose in the first game of the championship series on Monday, at 5:30 p.m., at the Hot Stove Complex.
