Grantsville cruises to 8-2 win

MCHENRY — Grantsville Post 214 blew open a one-run game with a six-run sixth inning and cruised the rest of the way in an 8-2 victory over Fort Cumberland Post 13 in American Legion baseball  earlier this week at Garrett College.

Danny Sislo doubled, singled and drove in a run, Patrick Sines had two singles and an RBI and Seth Holler also had two singles for Grantsville (3-2), which led 7-0 after six innings. Mason Dick hit a two-run single and Cody Rodeheaver doubled.

Sines got the win, allowing one earned run while striking out six in 7 1-3 innings.

Chris Fram singled and scored a run for Fort Cumberland.

Both teams play today in the Hillbilly Hardball Classic. Grantsville faces Potomac Valley at 11:30 a.m. and South Charleston at 6 p.m. in Elkins, while Fort Cumberland faces Charleston at 11:30 a.m. and Wheeling at 4:30 p.m. at Bridgeport.

    Ryan Colaw hit an RBI single in the top of the 11th inning to put Potomac Valley up 9-8 and Garrett Keller’s hit made it 10-8 as Potomac Valley won the championship game of the West Virginia Area American Legion Tournament, 10-8, in 11 innings over Romney Sunday at Petersburg High School.
