Oakland sweeps West Virginia
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Oakland won a pitcher’s dual in game one and rallied down 6-2 in game two to sweep West Virginia, 1-0 and 8-7 in a doubleheader in Berkeley Springs on Saturday.
Scott Cooper hurled six shutout innings, striking out 10 and walking two before handing it over to Cody Toothman in the seventh to win the first game.
Tommy Reams single produced the only run. Brian Renhart doubled and singled twice. Cam King and Jashanno Sweeting added doubles for Oakland.
Davis Milburn pitched well in the loss, allowing one run on nine hits in a complete game. He walked one and struck out one.
Ian Humphrey’s bases-clearing triple, followed by the go-ahead single by Sweeting won game two for the Oaks.
Humphrey finished a homer shy of the cycle in the game. Sweeting added another single and Reams had two base hits.
Gage Taylor and Norm Hall each singled twice with an RBI for the Powerhouse. Brian Hahn doubled and singled, bringing in one.
Oakland (6-4) hosts another doubleheader with West Virginia today at 1 p.m.
