Tri-State sweeps Orioles

BEL AIR — Brian Powell scored Ryan Murphy on a single in the top of the eighth inning to allow the Tri-State Titans to take two from the Cumberland Orioles Sunday in a Pen-Mar doubleheader at Bel Air Field.

The Titans won the first half 7-0 behind a six-run third inning, but needed to score twice in the top of the eighth in the second half to take it by a final of 6-4.

Powell finished with two singles and two runs scored during the two-run win. Bryce Nightengale added a double, while Kody Ellsworth and Murphy added a pair of singles each.

Chris Wilson hit a double and two singles for the Orioles, while Brandon Folk singled home two runs.

Cumberland went ahead 2-0 in the second inning before Tri-State tied the score in the third. The Titans took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth, but the Orioles tied it in the bottom half.

In the opener, Ellsworth hit a double and a single, and Nightengale and Murphy had two singles apiece for the Titans.

Chris Wilson singled twice for the Orioles. Powell held Cumberland to four singles in the shutout.
