POTOMAC PARK — Vinny Foreman doubled home three runs in the third inning as Moose exploded for even runs during a 8-1 win over Casselman Valley that gives them a 1-0 lead in the Rec League Championship Series.
Game Two will be played tonight, 7 p.m., at Memorial Field at the Hot Stove Complex.
Foreman’s double came with the bases loaded in the third inning as Moose (13-5-1) turned 1-0 lead into an 8-0 padding in just a few minutes.
Foreman added a single to his double, and Nate Souders drove in two runs with two doubles and a single. Tanner Manning added to Moose’s collection of eight hits with a pair of singles.
Souders stonewalled Casselman on the mound, collecting nine strikeouts and allowing five hits in a complete game victory.
Casselman (14-4-1) got a double and a single from Alex Beiler and a double from Lance Leydig.
Casselman scored its only run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 8-1.
