Strickland lifts Eagles to 8-7 win

— POTOMAC PARK — Dustin Strickland’s one-out, walkoff single capped a three-run rally that carried the Cresaptown Eagles to an 8-7 win over Riverside Sports in Hot Stove League action Friday at Holler Field.

Trailing 7-5 and down to their last two outs, Greg Kitzmiller was hit by a pitch, Bryson Shepherd doubled and Dalton Torbet walked for the Eagles. Cole Holler’s two-run single tied it 7-7, and Strickland followed with a single to knock in Torbet with the winning run.

Both teams had seven hits. Strickland and Jason VanMeter doubled and singled for the Eagles, while Ottaviani tripled and singled and Brandon Dougherty doubled and singled for Riverside.

The Eagles (7-4-1) will play the Cumberland Lions on Monday at Memorial Field at 8 p.m. Riverside plays at Chestnut Ridge on Monday at 6 o’clock.

HYNDMAN, Pa. — Matt Lewis and Tanner Fichtner were responsible for six runs as Hobo’s Restaurant came from behind to defeat Taylor Mining Friday evening.

Lewis belted a double, had an RBI and scored twice while Fichtner had two hits, including a double, knocking in two runs and he scored once. Cody Lohr also doubled and scored.

Hobo’s trailed 4-2 and 6-4 after the second and third innings but outscored Taylor Mining 6-1 over the next three and a half innings to improve to 6-5-2.

Evan Shockey and Matt Mills both had two hits to lead Taylor Mining. Each scored a run while Justin Wilson touched home twice.

Hobo’s plays Cork’s Cars on Tuesday, 6 p.m., at Holler Field. Taylor Mining (1-8) plays Frostburg First United in Westernport at 6 p.m.

ELLERSLIE — Clayton Gerley was one of four players with two hits but his drove in four runs as Greg’s Auto Body beat Bill Miller Equipment Friday evening in Ellerslie.

Along with Gerley, Bradley Younker, Brady Norris and Brady Flowers each rapped a double and a single as part of Greg’s 14-hit attack in a game shortened to five innings. Coltin Dilley added a triple.

Zack Linn had both of Bill Miller’s hits, two doubles for two RBIs in the fifth inning.

Greg’s Auto Body (5-6) plays Ridgeley VFW on Tuesday, 6 p.m., at Memorial Field. Bill Miller (1-9) plays the Fort Ashby Lions at Holler Field on Monday beginning at 6 p.m.

Taylor Mining    0

OAKLAND — Zach Tasker and Austin Graham combined for a two-hit shutout to lift Cork’s Cars over Taylor Mining at Broadford Park.

Tasker, who pitched the first three innings, and Graham teamed for seven strikeouts and three walks and did not allow a baserunner past second base over the final six innings.

Broc Lohr and Tylon Chapman had RBI doubles and Dakota Hinebaugh an RBI single to account for the runs for Cork’s. Tasker and Ethan Bittinger added doubles.

Matt Mills scattered six hits, walked one and fanned four in a complete-game effort for Taylor Mining.

Cork’s (8-4-1) plays Hobo’s Restaurant on Tuesday at Holler Field.
