Beyer, Powell pitch Titans to sweep

BEL AIR  — Brian Powell and Tristen Beyer both tossed shutouts Saturday during a sweep of a doubleheader with Morgantown at Bel Air Field.

Powell had 13 strikeouts, issued one walk and allowed two singles while leading the Titans to a 9-0 win in the opener.

It took until the seventh inning for Powell to allow a runner to reach second.

In the late game, Beyser fanned 10 and allowed three hits as Tri-State needed just five innings to collect a 13-0 win to complete the sweep.

Powell helped his own cause in the 9-0 win by delivering three singles (half of the Titans’ six hits).

Matt Wright hit a RBI double, and Sean Collete drove in one run with a double.

In the second game, the Titans erased all doubt by scoring 12 times in the bottom of the first. Powell drove in three runs with two doubles and a single, and Wright had three RBIs on a doubles and a single.

Collette added two singles and Tri-State had a total of 11 hits.

The Titans will play again today when it travels to Oakland to play two with the Oaks.
