Potomac Valley sweeps Grantsville

OAKLAND — Potomac Valley used two tie-breaking final innings to sweep Grantsville Post 214, 5-2 and 11-8, Saturday afternoon at Garrett College.

Trevor Harman’s two-run single in the top of the seventh in the first game put Potomac Valley up 4-2.

Brandon George took a no-hitter into the sixth before Keith Chapman broke it up with a single. That led to a game-tying two-run single from Logan Stort. Overall, George was effectively wild, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out nine in seven innings, though he walked six and hit a batter.

Evan Rodeheaver also threw a complete game for Grantsville, allowing no earned runs, in a tough-luck loss.

Potomac Valley’s seven-run seventh inning was the difference in the second game victory.

Grantsville pitchers combined to walk four and hit two in the frame. Harman hit a two-run triple and George added a two-run single. Ryan Colaw and John Starkey also drove in runs in the inning.

Grantsville responded with a four-run bottom half of the inning and had the tying run at the plate when Harman got the final out. Chapman doubled twice and Cody Rodeheaver singled three times.

Grantsville (6-6) plays Fort Cumberland Post 13 at Garrett College Thursday at 6 p.m.
