Legion hands Lakeview its first loss

— FROSTBURG — Michael Livingston struck out eight while going the distance as Frostburg Legion handed Lakeview Auto its first loss of the season, 5-2, Wednesday at Mountain Ridge.

Anthony Calcutta led Frostburg’s nine-hit attack by hitting a double and a single, and Devin Dinicola finished with two singles. Brett Ishler and John Taylor each added a double, and Hunter Rice delivered a two-run single.

Lakeview got two singles from Hill.

Frostburg (9-3-1) will play Team One at 7 p.m. on Friday at Broadford Park. Lakeview (12-1) plays Hobos at Northern on on Friday.

MCHENRY — Richard Ravenscroft hit a hard liner that a Taylor Mining infielder couldn’t handle, scoring Richard Ravenscroft with the walk-off run for Grantsville S.A.L. in the bottom of the seventh Wednesday at Garrett College.

Taylor Mining (1-8) had built a 5-0 lead through the first four innings before Grantsville pulled withing one with a four-run fifth, tied it with a run on a passed ball in the sixth before winning it in the seventh.

Matt Mills and D. Smith each had two hits. Smith drove in two runs and Mills one for Taylor Mining.

Grantsville’s Piori Patterson singled and doubled, Bradley McKenzie doubled and Caleb Broadwater belted a two-run triple.

Winning pitcher Patterson and Taylor Mining’s Justin Wilson both struck out nine hitters. Wilson allowed four hits and Patterson seven.

Grantsville (8-6) plays at Salisbury on Saturday at 5 p.m. Taylor Mining plays Cumberland Optimist Monday, 6 p.m., at Holler Field.

BEDFORD, Pa. — Jeff Kidd and Tyler Coughenour combined for 10 strikeouts and scattered four singles as Bedford edged Kiwanis in a pitchers’ duel Tuesday night.

Kidd also collected a third of his teams’ six hits with two singles. Catcher Kyle Miller added a double.

Bedford improves to 10-1-1 and plays tonight at Holler Field against Greg’s Auto. Kiwanis also plays tonight when it faces the Cumberland Lions at Hamilton Field.

POTOMAC PARK  — The Fort Ashby Lions scored 12 runs during the third and fourth innings  to beat Bill Miller Equipment by the 10-run rule in five innings Monday at Holler Field.

Braiden Popluhar homered and hit two singles for the Lions, who had nine hits as a team.

Frank Clayton contributed two singles and Tucker Aldridge came through with a double in the win.

The Lions (9-4-1) play the Optimists tonight, 5:30, at Memorial Field.

Chestnut Ridge    9

NEW PARIS, Pa. — Brandon Dougherty hit three doubles to lead Riverside Sports back to .500 with its win over Chestnut Ridge Monday afternoon.

Now 5-5, Riverside plays at Holler Field on Friday when it faces Ridgeley VFW.

Dougherty’s three hits were matched by Carson Imes’ triple and two singles. Darian King-Ottaviani and Chase DeWitt both provided a double and a single, and Brenton Miller and Austin Martin had two singles each.

For Chestnut Ridge, Dillow hit a double and a single, while Brady and Jones finished with two singles apiece.
