ROMNEY, W.Va. — Josh Crawford worked a complete game, allowing four hits and no earned runs as Hampshire advanced to the West Virginia Class AAA Regional finals with an 11-1 six-inning win over Buckhannon-Upshur Monday at home.
The Trojans (25-3) will play Hedgesville in Hedgesville on Wednesday in the region finals. The time of the game has yet to be determined.
Hampshire finished with 10 hits of its own, getting a solo home run from Bucky Timbrook, a triple and a single with one RBI from Shane Ennis, Matt Maiers hit two singles and scored twice, and Crawford helped his own cause by singling home one run.
Crawford, who recorded three strikeouts and two walks, scattered four singles.
The Trojans fell behind 1-0 on an unearned run in the top of the second, but tied the score in the bottom of the inning and scored four times in the third to take a 5-1 lead. They finished out the afternoon by scoring twice in the fourth, once in the fifth and two more times in the sixth.
Hampshire has already played Hedgesville once this season, beating the Eagles 6-4 on March 22 to improve to 2-0.
