CUMBERLAND — Zach Bradfield started the job in the opener and Adam Frey finished it in the late game of an afternoon doubleheader against Westmoreland as the Trojans collected a sweep over the Wolfpack, 3-0 and 17-0, at The Rock.
Bradfield, a sophomore out of Frankfort, fanned nine and walked two in seven innings during ACM’s 3-0 win. He was able to work out of two jams, one in the second and one in the fifth, where he had two runners on base with less than two outs.
Brandon Miller had a double in the fifth inning for the Trojans’ only extra-base hit. He scored later in the inning on a single by Blayne McGuirk.
The Trojans scored their first two runs during the second inning when Cody Malone batted in a run on a fielder’s choice and Cody Dorn scored on a wild pitch.
In the second game, Allegany jumped on Westmoreland early by scoring eight times in the opening inning. They added five more runs in the third inning to push the lead to 13 runs and scored the final four in the fourth. Play was halted after the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.
Mountain Ridge graduate Adam Stowell finished 3-for-3 with a double and a pair of isngle, and Allegany grad Drew O’Neal knocked in three runs with a double. Former Northern standout Cody Humberson finished with a double and two RBIs, while Malone had two singles and two runs scored. McGuirk gave the Trojans a double, single and three RBIs , and Jeff Morgan added a RBI-double.
Frey struck out six and walked two while allowing four hits in the win.
The Trojans, who haven’t played since losing three games in two days to Lenoir (N.C.), improve to 2-3 with their first wins of the year and play on Thursday when they host Garrett in a single game to open play in the Maryland JUCO Conference.

LA PLATA — Garrett strugged to find its bats on Saturday, losing 5-1 and 3-1 in a doubleheader at the College of Southern Maryland Saturday as the Lakers continue to seek their first win.
Garrett combined for just seven hits on the day, being quited by the duo of Keith Durbin and Jason Funkhouser, who threw complete games for Southern Maryland.
Tylr Lawrence went the distance for the Lakers in game two, allowing three runs on nine hits in the two-run loss.
Garrett (0-5, 0-2 in MD JUCO) play today against Jamestown (N.Y.) at 1p.m. and St. Claire Community College at 4 p.m. in Richmond, Va.
Frostburg State 10
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. — Ryan McGuigan went 4 for 6 and drove in three runs, including the tying and winning runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, to lift Frostburg State to a 10-9 win over Rutgers-Newark in the opening day of the Hampden-Sydney baseball tournament.
The Bobcats (4-3) trailed 5-0 early and 8-5 with no one on and two outs in the eighth before rallying for the victory. McGuigan got the eighth-inning rally started with a two-out single, and after a hit batsman, scored on a single by Kevin Kean. Rob Jennings smacked a two-run double, scoring Garrett Price and Kean, to tie it 8-8.
Two FSU errors enabled Rutgers-Newark (2-3) to regain the lead, 9-8, in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the inning, with runners on second and third with two out after an error and a double by Pat Sapp, McGuigan drove a pitch into right field for a two-run, walkoff single.
The Bobcats continued play in the tournament Saturday, against Franklin & Marshall.
