Casselman defeats Moose for Rec title

SALISBURY, Pa. — Winning pitcher Connor Christner belted a three-run home run as Casselman Valley clinched the Rec Baseball League’s regular-season championship with a 5-2 win over the Cumberland Moose Friday evening.

Casselman Valley trailed 2-0 until Christner’s three-run blast in the fifth.

Kirk Davis singled twice and scored a run, Jeff Garlitz had an RBI single and Alex Beiler squeezed in a run for Casselman Valley.

Christner pitched 6 2-3 innings, allowed only two first-inning runs and struck out five. Beiler got the final out in the seventh.

Vinnie Foreman had two singles and Brandon Reed stroked a two-run single for the Moose.

Casselman Valley (13 1/2 - 2 1/2) will be the No. 1 seed in the playoffs and the Moose (12 1/2 - 3 1/2) will be No. 2.

Casselman will host No. 4 Barrelville Outdoor Club on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
