CUMBERLAND — Ryan Redinger pitched eight solid innings and a three-run third carried Allegany College of Maryland over Frederick Community College, 4-2, in a nine-inning game on Tuesday afternoon at ACM’s the Rock.
Redinger struck out four while scattering seven hits. The only blemish occurred in the first inning when Frederick’s Sam Crater belted a solo home run to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
The Trojans went ahead in the third inning on a two-run double by Drew O’Neal and Eli Souders’ RBI sacrifice fly.
Allegany took a 4-1 lead on Jeff Morgan’s RBI base hit in the sixth.
Frederick scored a run on a wild pitch with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth. Joe Glass relieved ninth-inning starter Zach Bradfield and tossed the wild pitch. Glass then got the final three outs on a grounder, a strikeout and fly out to get the save.
The Trojans finished with nine hits led by Cody Doran’s three including a double. He scored the go-ahead run in the third inning. Morgan also had two hits with an RBI and a run scored.
Frederick’s Devin Bell finished with two base hits.
Allegany (21-22 overall, 9-9 Division II Maryland JUCO) visits Chesapeake for a pair of makeup games on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
