St. Mary’s spoils BW’s opener, 6-2

— HAGERSTOWN — St. James broke open a tight game with a three-run fourth inning and downed Bishop Walsh, 6-2, in a frigid season opener on Thursday afternoon.

Bishop Walsh trailed 2-0 after the first inning then tied it with a two-run second. Dylan Wilson smacked an RBI single in the inning.

The Saints (2-0) broke the tie with a run in the third before tacking on three insurance runs in the fourth.

Both teams had five hits and two errors. Brandon Reed had a pair of singles for the Spartans.

Northern visits BW on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
