Carr leads Keyser over Northern

— KEYSER, W.Va. — Lexi Carr helped the Golden Tornado improve to 4-0 with 25 points to beat Northern 65-30 on Friday night in Keyser’s gymnsium.

Carr and the Golden Tornado defense held Northern to 30 points.

Lexi Taylor added 13 points for Keyser.

The Golden Tornado gained the lead and control in the first quarter and kept it, leading 18-9 after the first quarter, 33-14 at halftime and 48-18 after three.

Northern’s leading scorer was Emma Edwards with 10 points.

Keyser won the junior varsity game in impressive fashion, beating Northern by 31, 53-22, improving to 4-0. Keyser’s leading scorers were Jayna Wilson with 19 and Baylee Yaider with 12.

Keyser will travel to Bishop Walsh on Wednesday as both teams look to keep their early win streaks going and improve to 5-0. Northern (1-3) will travel to Short Gap to take on the Frankfort Falcons Monday evening.

CRESAPTOWN — Faith outscored Calvary 11-2 over the final 90 seconds to break a late tie and capture the win over the Eagles Friday in Mason-Dixon Christian Conference action.

The score remained tight most of the evening, and Calvary was able to tie it at 32 with just under two minutes remaining. Faith was able to retake the lead then take advantage of the Eagles being forced to foul to pull away.

Karly Hipsley put up a double-double for the Eagles by scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Payton Emerick added nine points and Logan Ketterman finished with eight.

For Faith, Carolyn Cassell scored 12 points and Allie Romine had 10.

Calvary (1-2, 1-1 MDCC) stays in conference to play at Grace on Tuesday at 5:30.

Paw Paw    38

SALISBURY, Pa. — Salisbury snuck past Paw Paw, 40-38, Friday evening, outscoring the Pirates 9-6 during the fourth quarter to pull off a two-point win.

The Elks trailed 32-31 entering the fourth quarter and Emily Lowery scored four of her 12 points to help them jump ahead of Paw Paw. Kylee Short  had 17 points and five rebounds, and Lowery added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Brynne Kemp also finished with a dozen rebounds for the Elks.

Shiann Groah led the Pirates with 13 rebounds and four points, while Belle Harold and Alixia Snyder tied for a team-high 13 points. Harold also collected nine boards.

Salisbury led 10-8 after the first quarter, but Paw Paw move in front to lead 22-16 at halftime and 32-31 after three.

Salisbury (1-2) will host Johnstown Christian School on Monday. Paw Paw (1-2) is at Mt. View Christian on Tuesday.
