CUMBERLAND — Trenton Eirich scored 30 points, Darquel Jessie added 26 and Mario D’Atri had a double-double as Allegany annihilatedAltoona 99-70 Friday evening in Cumberland.
Eirich got to 30 on nine field goals and a 10 of 13 showing at the foul line, and Jessie dropped 11 field goals and was 2 for 3 at the line for a total of 26 points. D’Atri dished out 10 assists and completed the double-double with 12 points, and Bryce Nightengale became the fourth Camper with at least 10 points by finishing with 11. Nightengale also had four steals.
Altoona got 18 points from Manny Span and 10 from David Simmons.
The Campers managed a small lead after the first two quarters, getting out to a 23-18 lead in the first quarter and 41-31 at halftime. Alco made its move in the third quarter by outscoring the Cougars 33-15 to open a 74-46 lead entering the fourth.
The Campers improve to 2-0 and have breached 90 points in both games after opening the season with a 94-43 win over Northern on Dec. 6.
Allegany won the junior varsity game 33-27 on Jason Copman’s 15 points. Isaiah Wamsley scored nine for Altoona.
Allegany plays at 7:15 on Tuesday when it travels to Hyndman.
ACCIDENT — Three players scored in double figures as Northern started solid and hot in defeating Hope for Hyndman Friday night at Northern High School.
Trevon Jones led the Huskies with 15 points. Adam Warnick added 12 and Jonah Schneider scored 10.
Northern (1-1) dominated from the start, leading 21-2 after the first quarter and by 30, 39-9, at halftime. It maintained the 30-point cushion with a 57-27 lead going into the fourth period.
The Huskies had four three-pointers with Kollin Keister getting two of them. Cody Deigert and Jones had the other two.
Jordan and Josh Hiquet both finished with 11 points to lead Hyndman.
Northern won the junior varsity game 36-18 behind Calyb King’s nine points.
Northern hosts Keyser on Thursday beginning at 7:30 p.m. The jayvee game will begin at 6. Hyndman (1-1) hosts Allegany on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
CRESAPTOWN — Calvary suffered a tough loss to Faith on Friday falling to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in Mason-Dixon Conference play.
Calvary received career highs from Caleb Snyder with 22 points and Zack Nelson with 16.
Calvary fell behind at the end of the first quarter but continued to battle back as Nelson hit three three-pointers.
“I’m proud of how the team responded and battled back and played against one of the better teams in our conference” said Calvary head coach Matt Dillow.
Calvary lost to Faith 53-28 in the junior varsity game. Atticus Speis led the Eagles with 16 points.
Calvary will travel to Hagerstown on Tuesday as it plays Grace Academy beginning at 4 p.m.
