Landis leads ACM over Anne Arundel

CUMBERLAND — Courtney Landis scored 19 points to lead four double-figure scorers and Allegany withstood a dozen three-point goals by Anne Arundel for a 68-60 victory in its regular-season finale Saturday at Bob Kirk Arena.

Landis made seven field goals and 3 of 4 free throws for the Trojans, while Gina Rievel scored 17 points, Kayla Hutson 11 and KeKe Paige 10. Samantha Frankenberry added nine points to the balanced scoring attack.

Sarah Stokes hit six three-point goals and had a game-high 21 points for Anne Arundel (3-20, 1-12). Larissa Cothern had 16 and Denisha Hawkins 14.

Allegany (5-18, 3-10 Maryland JUCO) will likely be playing on the road Tuesday in a Maryland JUCO Tournament play-in game.

FROSTBURG — Frostburg State built an 11-point halftime lead but went stone cold from the field in the second half and fell to St. Mary’s in a Capital Athletic Conference game.

The Bobcats (5-14, 3-10) led by as many as 15 in the first half, and led 43-32 at the break. But St. Mary’s (8-12, 5-8) put up 47 points in the second half, while Frostburg shot just 25 percent.

The Bobcats lost despite another big game from Elaina Hummel, who had 25 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals — all team highs. She currently leads the conference in scoring (17.6) and foul shooting (88 percent).

Shana Lewis led four double-figure scorers for St. Mary’s with 26 points and went 10 for 10 from the foul line. Sophie Pruden had a double-double in the second half with 13 points and 13 rebounds as the Seahawks outrebounded (34-15) and outscored (47-31) the Bobcats in the second half. Pruden finished with 19 points and 16 rebounds.

Simone Wise added 13 points and Kyler Redmond and Kayla Love had nine for Frostburg State.

Frostburg State will host Mt. Aloysius on Monday at 6 p.m.
