Patrick Henry’s balance defeats Allegany, 70-63

HAGERSTOWN — Allegany College of Maryland scored 40 points in the second half but it wasn’t enough to overcome undefeated Patrick Henry’s first half as the Trojans fell 70-63 Sunday afternoon at Hagerstown Community College in the Jim Brown Classic.

Madi Nightengale led the Trojans with a game-high 23 points making nine field goals including three three-pointers and two free throws.

Derica Souder added 16 points and Monique Rhodes had a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Patrick Henry (6-0), which built a 34-23 halftime lead, had three players score in double figures and three more just miss by one or two points. Courtney Cayard led the Patriots with 12 points. Jasmine Rawl added 11 and Shakeia Salters had 10. Chelsea White finished with nine and Jasmine Griffin and Zaynah Stephens each scored eight.

Allegany (0-8, 0-2 Maryland JUCO) returns to Hagerstown on Wednesday evening for a 6 p.m. game.
