CUMBERLAND — Hannah Horne scored 15 points, Alicia Roth had 14 and Kambrie Bosley made three three-point goals and had 13 points as second-ranked Southern stormed past third-ranked Allegany, 61-36, in high school girls basketball Wednesday at Campobello.
Horne made six field goals and both of her foul shots to lead all scorers for the Rams (5-1, 3-0 AMAC). Mandy Sweitzer had six points and six rebounds and Lauren Francillon four points and five rebounds.
Courtney Landis led Allegany (5-3, 3-2) with 14 points. She made two three-point goals and 8 of 12 foul shots.
Tied 11-11 after the first quarter, Southern zoomed ahead by outscoring Allegany 17-5 in the second quarter. The Rams led 28-16 at halftime and 49-26 through three quarters.
Southern also won the jayvee game 23-20.
The Campers will host Hampshire on Saturday, with the jayvee game at 1 o’clock and the varsity at 2:30. Southern plays at Bishop Walsh Monday night.
No. 4 Hampshire 55, Northern 50
ACCIDENT — Fourth-ranked Hampshire rallied in the final minutes to escape Northern with a 55-50 win Wednesday.
The Huskies maintained a slim lead for most of the game. They led 14-11 after one but trailed 28-25 at the break.
Northern went back on top at the end of the third, 39-37. The Huskies went cold from the free throw line down the stretch, allowing Hampshire to pull out the win.
Alexis Nickleson led the Trojans with 11 points and six rebounds.
Kirsten Raynor had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Allison Yommer scored 14 in the loss.
Hampshire also won the jayvee game, 69-25. Corey Crawford had 15 for the Trojans. Nicole Stanczyk led Northern with eight.
Northern also loss, 69-62, against Westminster on Friday at Winter’s Mill despite 20 points from Yommer.
Northern (1-7) plays at Frankfort Tuesday at 7:30.
Fort Hill 50, No. 5 Frankfort 47
CUMBERLAND — Sarah Lowery put Fort Hill on top for good late in the fourth quarter as the Sentinels rallied past fifth-ranked Frankfort for their fourth win in five games.
Fort Hill (4-3, 4-1 AMAC) trailed most of the way but grabbed the lead after a timeout when Lowery scored on an assist from Alesha Jackson on a pick-and-roll with a few minutes to go.
Lowery had six points and Jackson five in the big fourth qaurter.
Alexis Kimmell led Fort Hill with 13 points and also had five assists and two steals. Jackson had 12 points and four steals and Lowery a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Taylor Sisk had 16 points, Mikala Miller 11 and Katie Jan 10 for Frankfort (4-5, 2-3), which led 14-9 after one quarter, 24-19 after two and 34-32 after three.
Frankfort won the jayvee game 30-17 with Carleigh Jones, Crystal Yaider and Autumn Cox scoring six points. Morgan Cranford had nine for Fort Hill.
Fort Hill hosts Hampshire on Monday and Frankfort entertains Northern on Tuesday.
Berkeley Springs 63
Bishop Walsh 20
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Sarah Haines scored 31 points for Berkeley Springs in a 63-20 win over Bishop Walsh on Wednesday.
Hailey Mock was leading scorer for Bishop Walsh with 10.
Berkeley Springs jumped in front early and led the Spartans from the opening tip. The Indians led 12-6 after one and 26-11 at halftime.
After a 17-4 third quarter. Berkeley poured it on with a 20-4 fourth.
Berkeley Springs won the jayvee game, 23-13 led by seven from Abby Cowles.
Tara Snyder scored five for the Spartans.
Bishop Walsh (0-11) hosts Hancock Saturday at 2:30.
SALISBURY, Pa. — Carly Baer scored 14 points, Kelsey Smith had 12 and Abbey Roberts, Kayla Luprek and Lyndy Baer 10 each to power Conemaugh Township past Salisbury.
Emily Lowery had team highs with 10 points and 11 rebounds for Salisbury. Kylee Short finished with nine points.
The Elks host Berlin on Friday.
