— WYE MILLS — Allegany College of Maryland started strong, finished the same way and was phenomenal as a team from the foul line as the Trojans picked up a 98-93 win over host Chesapeake Monday in a non-conference match between Maryland JUCO foes.

Ricky Mosley put up a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, both team-highs, and was complemented by teammate Larry Terry’s 20 points. Davon Williams came through with 11 points and eight boards, and former Fort Hill standout Garrett D’Atri finished with 19 points and six assists. David Jones added 15 points to the mix.

Allegany led all evening, taking a 42-39 advantage into halftime and pulling away in the second. The Skipjacks fought their way back close, but the Trojans shooting from the foul line kept them out in front. Led by an 11-for-12 effort by D’Atri, the Trojans made 22 of 26 foul shots (84.6 percent) to keep the lead.

“I thought we played pretty well,” ACM Head Coach Mike Baker said after the game. “We played hard for at least 30 of the 40 minutes, and though we had a little let down for a while, we didn’t let it get to us. I think the players decided to win this game before we even started, and they played like it. Things are starting to come together and this is the time of year you want to see that happening.”

The 6-15 Trojans will play again Wednesday at home against Prince George’s.
