FH routs Northern

— CUMBERLAND — Jarrett Wolfe had a double-double and four players scored in double figures as third-ranked Fort Hill scored 32 points in the second quarter to cruise over Northern 93-47 Tuesday evening at Fort Hill High School.

The Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference victory snaps a three-game losing streak for the Sentinels and it was the most points the team has scored this season, eclipsing the 72 it scored on Jan. 7, also against the Huskies.

Wolfe made eight baskets and sank 5 of 8 foul shots from the line. Kyle Jackson added 17 points and Dalton Gaus and Travis Bush each scored 12.

Fort Hill took a 10-5 lead into the second quarter where its offense took off, outscoring the Huskies 32-7 for a 42-12 halftime lead. It was 70-23 after the third quarter.

Northern’s Jordan Evans finished with 21 points on seven field goals, one a three-pointer, and he was 6 of 8 from the foul line. Kollin Keisler added 11 points.

Fort Hill won the junior varsity game, 65-50. Jacob Painter led the Sentinels with 21 points and Chris Jackson added 15. Kyle Klotz led Northern with 13 points.

Northern (2-14, 0-11 AMAC) hosts Hampshire Friday evening. Fort Hill will play a tripleheader with Southern on Friday with game times at 4:15, 6 and 7:30 p.m.

FROSTBURG — Michael Strietbeck put in 16 points to lead fourth-ranked Mountain Ridge over No. 5 Southern at home Tuesday.

The Rams were offensively challenged in the first, with seven first quarter points. They added six in the second to fall behind by 22 at halftime.

The Miners cruised in the second half to get back to .500 for the season.

Steven Glassbrenner added 11 for Mountain Ridge.

Landon Todd scored 10 for Southern. Clay Todd and Brian Wildman each had nine.

Lucas Lowery had 14 and Michael Livingston added 13 to lead Mountain Ridge’s jayvees to a 46-33 victory.

Southern took the freshmen game, 58-44. Tristan Baker led the Rams with 21. Justin Halbritter put in 15 for the Miners.

Southern (7-10) plays at Fort Hill Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Mountain Ridge (8-8) plays at Frankfort tonight at 7:30 p.m.

MOUNT STORM, W.Va. — Travis Murphy and Jacob Nelson combined to score 51 of Union’s 72 points in the Tigers victory over Calvary Christain Academy Tuesday evening at the Union Educational Complex.

Murphy led with a game-high 31 points hitting 12 baskets, including four of the Tigers’ seven three-pointers, and hitting half of his six free throws. Nelson had eight field goals, with two threes, and he made both of his foul shots. Nathan Evans added 13 points.

Calvary was paced by Gavin Hart’s 16 points. Tyler Michael and Matt Dillow each finished with 11.

“We rotated Tyler Seabolt and Greg Clark on Tyler Michael and they held him way below his average,” said Union head coach Lee Evans. “The played a very high defensive game.”

Union never trailed and the closest Calvary good get in the second half was 12 points. The Tigers led 19-12 after the first period, made it 42-23 at halftime and took a 57-40 lead into the final quarter.

Union (11-4) will host Turkeyfoot Valley tonight with the junior varsity game beginning things at 6 p.m. Calvary (9-11), coming off of a 91-62 home defeat to Hope for Hyndman Monday evening, hosts Heritage Academy Friday at 7 p.m.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va — Gage Shaffer recorded 23 points and 15 rebounds for Frankfort in a win at Berkeley Springs Tuesday.

The Indians kept it close in the first half. They trailed 20-15 after one and 30-28 at halftime.

The Falcons dominated the third, 23-7. Berkeley Springs outscored them in the fourth 20-14 to make it a 12-point game.

Colten Dorsey scored 16. Chase Detrick hit all three of Frankfort’s three-pointers on his way to 15.

Kyle Appel put in 22 to lead Berkeley Springs.

Brandon McCumbey scored 17 for the Indians jayvee squad in a 46-43 win. Trent Hamilton led Frankfort with 12.

Devin Alt poured in 25 to lead the Falcons, 45-40, in the Freshmen game.

Frankfort (6-11) hosts Mountain Ridge tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Petersburg    48

Keyser    35

KEYSER, W.Va. — Petersburg held the Golden Tornado to two fourth quarter points to leave Keyser with a win Tuesday.

The Vikings started well too, leading 20-10 after one and 29-22 at the break.

Keyser made it interesting with an 11-5 third to pull within one, 34-33.

Though their fourth quarter struggles allowed Petersburg to pull away.

Ryan Streets and Josh Golub each had seven for the Golden Tornado.

Brian George scored 19 while Grant Shanholtz contributed 15 for the Vikings.

Logan Robinette had 13 points to lead Keyser, 57-37, in the jayvee match-up. Brandon Siebolt scored 15 for the Vikings.

Petersburg (7-8) hosts Keyser Monday at 6 p.m.

Keyser (2-12) hosts Berkeley Springs Friday at 7:30 p.m.
