Streets, Keyser defeat Northern

ACCIDENT — Keyser built up a 12-point lead by halftime and was able to maintain that margin through the second half to leave Accident Thursday evening with a 44-32 win, their first of the season, over Northern in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference basketball.

The Golden Tornado led 12-6 following one quarter and 25-13 at the end of two. The lead shrank to nine points at the end of three quarters, 32-23, before climbing back to 12 in the fourth.

Ryan Streets had a game-high 13 points and Keyser received eight more points from both Wesley Harper and Blake Ravenscroft.

The Huskies were led by Brett Oates with nine points.

Amonte Turner scored 18 points for the Tornado during a 57-48 win in the junior varsity game. Hunter Mallow had 17 points for the Huskies.

Keyser (1-2 overall and AMAC) plays at Frankfort on Monday. Northern (1-2, 0-2 AMAC) is at Clear Spring tonight.

HYNDMAN, Pa. — Chase Detrick scored 22 points and Frankfort held off a late Hope for Hyndman push to win by five points Thursday night and collect the first victory of the season.

Detrick made seven field goals and four of his six foul shots for the game-high 22, while teammate Gavin Mauzy scored 10 points. Trenton Hamilton added eight more.

Jordan Hiquet scored 14 points for the Hornets, followed by Josh Hiquet’s 13 and Micah Stair’s 11.

The Falcons doubled up the Hornets to lead 16-8 after the opening quarter. The lead grew to 31-20 at halftime and shrunk slightly to 40-31 after three.

Frankfort blew out the Hornets in the jayvee game, 50-17.

The Falcons (1-2) host Keyser on Monday. Hyndman (1-3) plays again tonight at Turkeyfoot.
