United Methodist, St. Paul’s win Fearer titles

FROSTBURG  — Coach Derrick Swandol’s LaVale United Methodist team started where it left off last season besting the nemesis of Our Lady of the Mountains.

LaVale United Methodist made it a clean sweep of the Regular Season and Playoff Championships last Saturday in Senior Division ll action of the Fearer Memorial Church Basketball League besting Our Lady of the Mountains 46-42 in overtime.

 LaVale posted three players in double figures with Keegan Ott scoring 16 points.  Matt Oleksik had 13,  Devonte Emerson had five to finish with 12.  Coach Kevin Trezise’s  Our Lady of the Mountains finish the season with a 9-3 record having being beaten by LUMC three times, and were led in scoring by Will Giles 14 and also Wade McGee’s 13.

In Senior Division l action,  Coach George Dokes’ Saint Paul’s Lutheran posted a 52-34 win over God’s Ark of Safety and finish at 8-4. Saint Paul’s was led again by the league scoring champion Jeron Milton’s 20 points.

Teshawn Dokes had 14 points, and Delshawn Arnold had a great game under the basket with 11 points.  

Coach Dave Robertsons God’s Ark of Safety was led by Jake Kyle and Jarred Wilson with 10 points each.  

The season was the concludes the 65th consecutive year of the Fearer Memorial Church Basketball League.  There were 13 teams and 113 players from all around the area.
