Alco rally defeats Frankfort

Eirich scores 26 in 71-56 win

SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Trailing 30-25 at halftime, Allegany stormed out in the second half to score 46 points and pull way from the Falcons for a 71-56 win in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference boys action.

Trenton Eirich supplied another standout performance with 26 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists. Christian Thomas added 15 points and five assists, and Mario D’Atri finished with nine points. Bryce Nightengale gave the Campers six rebounds and six blocks to go with his six points.

Frankfort got out in front of Allegany to lead 15-13 after one quarter. The Falcons expanded on that to make it 30-25 at halftime, but head coach Scott Slider thought they could have made that cushion even bigger.

“I was happy with the way we were playing, but it also felt like we missed a few opportunities to get even more points,” he said. “Allegany came out strong in the third and made the plays they needed to, but if we had gotten some of those extra chances it could have bought us more time.”

Allegany performed a nine-point swing in the third quarter to take a 44-40 lead into the fourth and continued to expand on it.

Frankfort’s Gage Shaffer scored 14 points and had nine rebounds, Thane Cuter scored eight points with nine rebounds and seven blocks, and Chase Detrick had nine points.
