Mineral motorcyclist dies from crash injuries

KEYSER, W.Va. - A Mineral County man injured in a motorcycle accident late Wednesday afternoon near Elk Garden has died of his injuries, West Virginia State Police said.

Christopher Lee Crites, 40, of Cross died Thursday at Memorial Hospital as a result of the 4:30 p.m. accident that occurred on Cantor Cutoff Road near the intersection with Pinnacle Road, according to Tfc. S.A. Nazelrod, West Virginia State Police at Keyser.

Police said Crites was operating a 1999 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he lost control and then struck a rock.

Crites, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

Elk District Ambulance and Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter were among various first-responders that were dispatched to the scene.
