Corporate coaching class returning to Allegany College
For the Cumberland Times-News
CUMBERLAND - Corporate coaching, with a focus on practical skills that managers can use for workplace results, will be taught starting May 12 in a continuing education course that returns to Allegany College of Maryland by popular acclaim.
Introduction to Corporate Coaching emphasizes the practical application of coaching and mentoring employees so that they deliver results, grow their capabilities and improve communication.
The interactive curriculum used by instructor Jeannette Rudy Fitzwater, a registered corporate coach, allows for the discussion of real workplace issues and solutions.
First offered at ACM in March, the course drew praise from students ranging from the instructor's "excellent knowledge of material" to new concepts presented to interaction and discussion in the classroom.
Said one: "I learned two things in the first hour of class that made it well worth the time and money."
The course, which meets mid-afternoon once a week for four consecutive weeks, is appropriate for all current or future supervisors who recognize that today's more egalitarian workplace requires a different approach.
Through lecture, case studies, group activities and role-playing, participants will acquire the basic skills needed to coach their associates to a higher level of performance.
Course objectives include guiding employees to think and do for themselves to deliver the needed results, motivating employees to take on responsibility and perform effectively, and growing employee capabilities that lead to future growth and success.
The instructor brings more than 20 years of varied executive and management experience in human resources, training, strategic planning, marketing and sales.
The course meets from 2 to 4 p.m. in four once-a-week sessions.
Classes, in the Continuing Education Building, are on May 12 and 19, both Mondays; May 28, a Wednesday; and June 2, a Monday.
The deadline to register is May 5. To do so call (301) 784-5341. For more information call (301) 784-5121.
