HANCOCK - The Re-use Center is staging its eighth annual "It Pays to Re-use" contest, with prizes of first place, $200; second place, $100; and third place, $50.
In the spirit of creating a better environment, the Re-use Center hopes to encourage more creative solutions. Judges will review submitted projects involving recycled material in coming weeks and announce their decision on July 24.
More than 51 percent reused or recycled materials must be used in the projects. Those entering should provide a photograph and on the back list name, address, phone number and project name. Contestants should also write a small essay on how they developed, designed and created their project. Photos will not be returned and become the property of the Re-use Center, a nonprofit building supply warehouse.
All entries must be postmarked or dropped off at the office during business hours or before July 17.
The center is located at 225 E. Main St., Hancock, behind the Video Biz parking lot and under the state Route 522 bridge.
