Job fair offers health care career information

Local residents hoping for jobs and/or training in West Virginia’s expanding health care and human services industry will be able to get information at a career fair on Tuesday.

The Aging & Family Services Career Fair, which runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Frankfort District Senior Center, 10 Summit Drive in Short Gap, will help local residents find information on jobs in a senior citizens services industry, said Scott Mallery, director of Aging & Family Services of Mineral County.

The career fair is a cooperative project of the agencies various programs. “A wide variety of in-home health and eldery service industry staff will be on hand to offer employment and training opportunities to those in attendance,” Mallery said. “This job fair is a great opportunity for job seekers exploring their career options.”

According to the 2005 West Virginia Directors of Senior and Community Services Survey, one of the fastest growing occupations in West Virginia will be in the health care and human services industry. These include home health aids, personal and home care aides and others working in the elder care social service industry.
